How To Recover Deleted Files

Have you accidentally deleted important document files from your computer, pen drive or memory card? You can actually restore those permanently deleted files. The task is quite complex but Recuva, a free file recovery program lets you restore those files very easily.

Windows offers a powerful tool, Recycle Bin to protect yourself from losing accidentally deleted files by making them available at Recycle Bin. Unfortunately, you can’t restore the files deleted from external pen drives, Flash drives, etc. Even, if you are quite smart and prefers to use Shift+Delete instead of Delete to trash a file, which permanently removes the file from PC then also you can’t restore it from Recycle Bin.

Steps to Recover Files using Recuva

Step 1: Download Recuva and install it on your PC.

Step 2:  After installation, run the Recuva and proceed to the steps provided at Recuva wizard by clicking “Next” button.

Step 3: Select what you want to restore. You can search for deleted Pictures, music, documents, videos, compressed files or emails. If you’re not sure about file name, just select ‘All Files’ option. Now, after making selection for your concerned data, click on Next button.

Step 4: Specify the location from where you’ve deleted your file. If it is from your computer’s drive specify that or else, if you’re not sure, you can either click on browse and choose the hard-disk partition, pen Drives, etc. or just simply choose the very first option provided at the window to search everywhere in the computer for deleted files.

Step 5: The wizard now asks you to either tick Enable Deep Scan check-box or proceed to quick scan by simply clicking on Start button. Usually quick scan can find your files.

After scan completes, it will show you all deleted photos/files from Computer, Flash Drive or wherever you’ve searched. If there are large number of files in result and you know when the file have been created or modified then you can switch to Advanced View to easily select them.

Select the file, either right-click on it and choose recover option or press Recover button available at bottom-right corner. You can even select and restore more than one files at a time.
