Getting Started With A Facebook Page

A Facebook page is a public profile specifically created for brands, celebrities, causes and other organizations. Unlike personal profiles, pages do not gain "friends," but "fans" - which are people who choose to "like" a page.

Pages can gain an unlimited number of fans, differing from personal profiles, which has had a 5,000 friend maximum put on it by Facebook.

Pages work similarly to profiles, updating users with things such as statuses, links, events, photos and videos. This information appears on the page itself, as well as in its fans' personal news feeds. You can create and manage a Facebook Page from your personal account. Here you'll learn how to:

A) Create a Facebook Page
B) Create your first post
C) Invite friends to like your Page

A) Create a Facebook Page

1. Go to www.facebook.com/pages/create/

2. Choose a category and a Page name.

3. Add a description about your page and website if any.

4. Pick a image to use as a profile picture.

5. Click on Skip, If you do not want to Add the page to Favourites.

6. Click on Skip, if you do not want to promote your page.

7. Choose a cover photo. It's the first thing people will see when they visit your Page.

8. Click on the Edit Page button in the admin panel and choose Update Info to add other details about your page.

9. Set a memorable web address for your Page that you can use to promote your presence on Facebook. (Your page needs at least 25 fans to have a web address.)

10. View insights, edit your Page content, keep track of new activity and respond to personal messages from your admin panel. (You need 30 likes on your Page to get access to Insights about your activity.)

B) Create Your First Post

You can create different kinds of posts on your Page including text, photos, videos and questions. The person who liked your Page will see your posts in his news feed. News Feed is where people spend their time on Facebook – in fact, 40% of their time. It’s where people share the most important parts of their lives and where people can engage them in conversation.

  • Posts between 100 and 250 characters get about 60% more likes, comments and shares.
  • Photo albums, pictures and videos get 180%, 120%, and 100% more engagement respectively.

C) Invite friends to like your Page

You've probably got a community of friends, family and relatives who care about you. Invite them to like your Page.

  • Explore the options under the Build Audience button on your admin panel. And invite your Facebook friends to like your Page.
  • Click on 'Invite Email Contacts' to upload your email list and send a message asking people to like your Page.
  • Promote your Page web address on shop signs, business cards, receipts, emails etc.

So, this was a getting started guide for a facebook page. I hope, i explained it well enough to follow. If you still having problem in creating a page then feel free to ask questions. Thanks.
